About the Committee

A green campus is an area of the Organization to have an infrastructure or development that is structured and planned to incur less energy, less water, less or pollution free, less or no CO2 emission. A green audit committee is a tool of the environment management system which is used methodologically for the protection and conservation of the environment and sustenance of the ecosystem. Green campus constitutes environmental friendly practices and education combined to promote sustainable and eco-friendly practices along with user friendly technology in the campus. BMCE undertake the measures / initiatives towards environment preservation drive through sensitizing and orienting the campus community and undertaking programmes like Green Campus, Save Water, Plant and Save Trees, West Management, Renewable energy etc. Moreover, the Green Audit is also one of the requirements the NAAC has envisaged for the educational Institutions.

Aims & Objectives

  • To conduct the baseline survey to know the real status of green practices and accordingly to develop a green policy (vision document) and framework for the University.
  • To evaluate the current practices that can have an impact on the environment such as resource utilization, waste management, water management, energy conservation, and Floral & Faunal diversity in the university.
  • To increase environmental consciousness throughout the campus among all the stakeholders.
  • To give the direction to work on some local environmental issues through motivating staff as well as students to optimize sustainable use of available natural resources.

Functions

  • Maintenance of a clean pollution-free campus.
  • Creating awareness towards cleanliness and conservation of natural resources amongst students, teachers, and employees.
  • Ensure maintenance of greenery on the campus by undertaking a tree plantation program on a regular basis.
  • Organize different types of competitions addressing environmental protection and conservation.
  • Invite renowned environmentalists on the campus to deliver expert lectures.
  • Proper management of E-waste and handing it over to the pollution control board for disposal.
